Among all the Beinn Deargs, this one located on the northern side of Glen Lyon, roughly midway along the glen, is perhaps the most unassuming. Covered in heather and grass, this rounded Corbett is modest compared to its higher neighbours.
Most hillwalkers will opt to hike up Beinn Dearg as a short detour from the right-of-way that leads from Innerwick in Glen Lyon towards Carie on the shores of Loch Rannoch.
If bagging the circuit of Glen Lyon Munros, Beinn Dearg can be tagged in, requiring a mere 200m of additional ascent.
