The most popular route up Ben Rinnes begins from the col at Glack Harnes to the east of the mountain, from where a fine vehicle track followed by a well maintained path aims to the summit and the route up couldn't be more obvious.
As part of Dufftown Highland Games, there is a hillrace from the town to the summit and back, which takes in a couple of other minor summits on the way before joining the route from Glack Harnes. The terrain on the minor tops is quite rough and not as obvious as the vehicle track !
