What better reason to climb a Munro than to celebrate the launch of a new whisky ?

We were contacted to lead a keen group up Etive Mor. The reason for Etive Mor was simple, this mountain was to be featured on the label of the new small batch of whisky that Berry Bros and Rudd were revealing.

Weather however had different ideas ! After the recent very mild spell, winter had now returned and our plan was changed to hike up nearby Etive Beag instead - a safer bet given the forecasted conditions with a higher chance of success of reaching a Munro summit.

Starting from the car-park by the eastern approach to Glencoe, I led the group of four whisky experts up Buachaille Etive Beag in wintery conditions. The climb was steady, the path in places was hidden by fresh new snow. Higher up, 40 mph gusts and temperatures of a little below zero did not deter the party who had a great adventure capped by a very green lunch under a group shelter. A toast to the new bottle - with the first bottle itself !
