Carn a' Choire Bhoidheach is a grass-covered dome and an outlier of nearby Lochnagar. On the northern side of Carn a' Choire Bhoidheach, crags overlook Loch nan Eun, otherwise this Munro is rather featureless and can be tricky to navigate in mist.
With less than 100m of ascent between Carn a' Choire Bhoidheach and its neighbour Lochnagar, these two Munro peaks are often bagged together, with the most popular routes heading in from Spittal of Loch Muick to the east. Access on lower ground is on estate tracks with a fine network of paths to choose from higher up.
There are several other Munro peaks nearby and even a diminutive Corbett, all of which can be combined with Carn a' Choire Bhoidheach to make for an excellent circular route of Munro-bagging around Loch Muick.
Carn a' Choire Bhoidheach can also be climbed from Auchallater, just south of Braemar, which will most likely involve coming over Carn an t-Saigairt Mor, stumbling over plane wreckage on the way.
