Meall Chuaich is a rather featureless and rounded hill resting at the northern end of a vast plateau east of Dalwhinnie and Drumochter.

The most popular and most direct route up Meall Chuaich starts from Cuaich on the A9 and follows a good track to the base of the hill from where a rather soggy path climbs to a large cairn on the summit.

A longer route heads in from Strathspey to the north through pretty Glen Tromie and climbs up Meall Chuaich's north-eastern shoulder, much of which is cycleable.

Meall Chuaich can be combined with the other Munros on the high plateau east of Drumochter and Dalwhinnie. Navigation can be testing on this terrain, even in clear conditions !
