Overlooking hidden Loch Coire a' Mhuilinn, Meallan nan Uan along with its neighbouring Corbett, Sgurr a' Mhuilinn, stands above the glens of Strathconon to the west of Dingwall.
A hike up Meallan nan Uan will most likely begin from the east by Strathanmore in Strathconon. There are no paths leading up the hill's steep grass and heather covered lower slopes and only once climbing up Meallan nan Uan's easterly top, Creag Ruadh, does a path of sorts begin to appear.
