Carn Dearg and Sgor Gaibhre are the two Munro peaks south of Loch Ossian linked by a long, wide grass covered ridge. Carn Dearg also has a long rugged southern shoulder and the summit overlooks the sad ruins of Old Corrour Lodge.
Possibly the most enjoyable route up Carn Dearg is the round of Loch Ossian from Corrour Train Halt, which also takes in Beinn na Lap and Sgor Gaibhre.
Alternatively, if you fancy a bit of cycling,Carn Dearg can bagged with Sgor Gaibhre from near Rannoch Station using he estate tracks that have been markedly improved over recent year. This route could be extended to include the nearby Corbett of Meall na Meoig.

With the estate paths being upgraded, cycling to the foot of the Munros surrounding Loch Ossian is a joy. This route takes the most direct line to bag Carn Dearg and Sgor Gaibhre, with a detour to the Corbett of Meall na Meoig of Beinn Pharlagain. Peaks : 2 Munros, option of 1 Corbett
