Just outwith the southern fringes of the Rough Bounds of Knoydart, Sgurr Thuilm is the easterly of two Munro summits standing on undulating crests of the high ground above Glen Pean.

The easiest approach to Sgurr Thuilm begins by the visitor centre in Glenfinnan, from where a tarred road heads northwards through Glen Finnan for 4km. Beyond this, decent paths head up grass-covered slopes of Sgurr Thuilm's south-western and onto crests topped with a line of fence-posts which are followed to Sgurr nan Coireachan and around the Corryhully Horseshoe.

A fine alternative and much less trodded route begins by Strathan at the western end of Loch Arkaig, from where forestry tracks lead into Glen Pean. Grass-covered rugged mountain shoulders lead directly up from the River Pean to the Munro peaks of Sgurr Thuilm and Sgurr nan Coireachan. With a couple of significant river crossings needed, this route shouldn't be attempted if river levels are high.

Beginning from the famed Glenfinnan Viaduct, a tarred road travels to Corryhully bothy and to the foot of a rugged circuit of crests leading to Sgurr nan Coireachan and Sgurr Thuilm. Streap can also be bagged from this direction.
