Streap

Rugged Corbett peak above Glen Finnan

Overlooking the forest plantations of Glen Finnan, a long series of hillsides stretch north-eastwards towards Glen Pean and Loch Arkaig. The highest point on this ridge is Streap, a rugged summit, just a few metres short of Munro height.

Just missing out on Munro height by a few metres, Streap is nonetheless a superb and rugged peak.

Standing above Glen Finnan to its west, an approach can be made from this direction using a tarred estate road and a more recently constructed hydro-works track. There is some steep hillside to hike up to gain the crest south-west of Streap's summit, ending with some scrambling along a narrow crest to reach its top.

Approaching from the forest tracks in Gleann Dubh Lighe enables Streap and nearby Braigh nan Uamhachnan to be combined into one route and avoids the scramble to Streap's summit.
