Just missing out on Munro height by a few metres, Streap is nonetheless a superb and rugged peak.
Standing above Glen Finnan to its west, an approach can be made from this direction using a tarred estate road and a more recently constructed hydro-works track. There is some steep hillside to hike up to gain the crest south-west of Streap's summit, ending with some scrambling along a narrow crest to reach its top.
Beginning on estate tracks through forestry, Streap can also be hiked from Gleann Dubh Lighe to the south. A route from this direction allows for the possibility of a traverse over the mountain's eastern summit, Streap Comhlaidh.
