With its summit overlooking the crags at the head of Glen Callater, Tolmount is an otherwise mainly grass-covered Munro summit surrounded by the higher peaks of Lochnagar and Glenshee.

Tolmount sits above the head of Loch Callater on the remote and high moorland that links Lochnagar to the Munros of Glenshee.

Various routes head up Tolmount, most of which also include nearby Tom Buidhe - a Munro of similar size, shape and terrain-cover.

The 9 Munros above Glenshee can be linked to form a long high-level hiking circuit. With generally grass covered slopes, this is one of the easier ways to go multi-Munro-bagging !

Tracing an old drove road through Glen Callater, this is a fairly popular route up Carn an t-Saigart Mor and can be extended to include several other Munro summits encircling the glen.

Combining Driesh and Mayar with the Munros of Tom Buidhe and Tolmount to the north into one route makes for a delightful circuit over featureless grassy ground that will really test your navigation skills.
