Being hidden for the most part from roadside view behind Beinn Toaig and overshadowed by its more impressive neighbour Stob Ghabhar, Stob a' Choire Odhair is a rather benign mountain.

Most hillwalkers will opt to head up Stob a' Choire Odhair from Victoria Bridge on Loch Tulla following the fine estate track aside the Abhainn Shira. Leading from the river towards the mountain and up most of its southern shoulder is a well-defined stalker's path, beyond which fainter paths can be traced on other aspects of this Munro. Stob a' Choire Odhair is connected to nearby mighty Stob Ghabhar at a col above 600m and combining these two Munros in one outing makes for a fine circular route.
