Beinn Dhorain is the highest point on a rolling ridge above Glen Loth, a glen known for its solitude and historical roots. Once more populated, the glen was significantly altered by the Highland Clearances, leaving behind echoes of former communities.
From Beinn Dhorain's summit cairn - and more so from nearby Ben Uarie's trig point - hillwalkers are rewarded with sweeping views stretching over the northern highlands and, on clear days, all the way to Orkney.
The most straightforward route begins in Glen Loth, starting near a bridge over the Sletdale Burn. This route follows a grassy track through young regeneration woodland before reaching open hillside and traversing gentle grassy slopes to the summit of Beinn Dhorain. A short detour to nearby Ben Uarie offers even wider views. Returing, walkers pass historical landmarks such as old ruins and the standing stone of Clach Mhic Mhios - powerful reminders of the glen's ancient past.
